Mr. Pontari's Math Class
Hello and welcome to my class website!
Welcome to my web page! Here you can find all the resources available to help you while you are not in school. I know that COVID-19 has thrown a curveball at us with how school will be ran, but I want ot make sure I have pages set up for both parents and students to be able to access all the resources for my class!
PARENTS!!!:
ALL STUDENTS HAVE RECIEVED AN INVITATION TO THEIR RESPECTIVE GOOGLE CLASSROOM SENT TO THEIR SCHOOL GOOGLE EMAIL ACCOUNT. PARENTS MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD HAS SEEN THE EMAIL AND HAVE JOINED THE CLASSROOM!!!
STUDENTS!!!:
If you are struggling to login to your Google Account, you may need to set up a new password. The base password should be Boltmmdd where mm is the month and dd is the day of your birthday. For example: mine would be Bolt1010 (For single digit days and months start with a zero: June = 06)
I teach 9th and 10th grade here at Memorial High School. For the first semester I am teaching:
- Two sections of 9th grade CP Algebra 1
- One section of 10th grade CP Geometry
For the second semester:
- The Algebra 1 classes from semester 1 will go to an A/B day schedule
- One section of 10th grade CP Gemoetry
- One section of 10th grade Honors Precalculus
Algebra 1 will be a thorough course on the basics of algebra: Learning to solve equations, understand graphs, learn how to use variables to create equations to model situations given in word problems, and so much more. Having a strong foundation in algebra not only sets students up for success in future math courses, but it also helps develop their perserverance, their confidence, and their ability to think critically in order to solve difficult problems by breaking them into smaller ones that are easier to solve.
Geometry is my favorite course to teach. Geometry is more than just shapes, its the beginning of an understanding as to how our world works. It's more than just shapes and angles, it helps develop spatial awareness and challenges students to think beyond what is put in front of them.
Precalculus is an extremely fun course, but very difficult. It marks a shift in mathematical thinking and challenges students to critique every step they take in their work. I always tell my students, precalculus is WAY more difficult than actual calculus. Working hard through this course will set any student up for success in more advanced math courses.

A little about myself:
- I'm a graduate of Vineland High School (yes, I have ties to the enemy) and a Vineland native
- I graduated in December of 2017 from Stockton University with a mathematics BA with a focus in education.
- I played lacrosse in high school, a little bit in college, and currently in Philly on Sundays for fun (over 12 years in total!)
- I have also coached boys lacrosse at Vineland high school between 2014 and 2018 and am now the current Assistant Coach for the Girls Lacrosse Team here at Millville. I also help run and coach the Small Town Sticks boys youth lacrosse program here in Millville for children ages 7-14.
- I love teaching and math and I am very excited to get started this year!
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. I believe that open and honest communication between teachers, parents, students, and administration is necessary to allow a student to reach their full potential.
