Warm-up assignments can vary from grammar practice, vocabulary exercises, and journal writing assignments. Warm-up assignments will be checked periodically for completion and are recorded a participation grade.

Homework:  Homework may be assigned and will be expected at the BEGINNING of class the next day.   Please be aware that reading homework may follow with a quiz or writing assignment the next day.

Classwork:  Classwork should be turned in by the END of the period, unless otherwise stated.    If work is not completed, please talk to teacher before leaving the classroom.

Late & Make-up Work: The amount of days you are absent is the amount of time you are able to make-up an assignment.  However, if there was an exam scheduled before you were absent and you were absent the day of the exam, you will complete the exam immediately upon returning.

Cheating:  Cheating and plagiarism will NOT be tolerated. Consequences are a zero for the assignment and may include disciplinary action as well.  Any resource material, human or textual, must be clearly cited.

Seating: Sit in assigned seat.  Seats will be assigned and rearranged by teacher. No student should take it upon themselves to move their seat; it will result in consequences.  Disruptive behavior will result in seating relocation, detention, and other possible consequences.

Writing Portfolios: Each student is required to maintain a writing portfolio (kept in class/online) that provides samples of their writing.  All benchmark assignments will be part of this portfolio.  Students are responsible for returning all required work so that at year’s end, their portfolio is complete and in order.
