Dear Students and Parents,

 

Welcome to Algebra 1. My name is Mr. Dennis.I look forward to having a wonderful semester working with you. 

Curriculum: 

 

Algebra 1 is the foundation for all the math and science you will use in high schooland life. This course emphasizes using algebraic reasoning, concepts, and methods to solve a wide variety of problems. Major topics include solving or simplifying: 

 

1. Variables and Expressions,                                   6. Polynomials and Factoring

2. Equations and Inequalities                                   7. Quadratic Functions and Equations

3. Linear Functions and Graphs                                8. Radical Expressions and Equations

4. Systems of Equations and Inequalities                   9. Rational Expressions and Equations, and

5. Exponents and Exponential Functions                   10. Data Analysis and Probability

 

Course Materials   You must bring the following to class daily, your:

 

     Homework / Textbook / Notebook / Agenda / and Pencils

 

Classroom Behavior  I expect all students to be safe, respectful, and responsible. I expect all students to follow all the rules, policies, expectations and procedures of Millville and Memorial High School as described in The Key STUDENT HANDBOOK, The PBSIS PROGRAM. and the following Classroom Rules:

 

1. Log into Google Meets at set times.

2. Face your screen and be ready to respond with signals or your voice..

3. Follow directions as they are given.

4. Keep mics on and at a soft noise level. 

5. Treat people and property with respect and do no harm to either.

6. Stay on task and complete your assignments.

7. Give your best effort every day

Consequences:

 

1. Warning.

2. Student conference

3. Phone call, e-mail, or note to your parents and Vice Principal

4. Teacher detention

5. Written referral to the Vice Principal for Action

6. Restrictions from hallways, teams, or activities
   
   

 

Chronic Problems: Parent conference

 

Severe Clause: Students will be sent to the office immediately for: fighting, vandalism, disobeying the teacher’s directives, disrespecting others, or disrupting the learning environment. Students sleeping in class will be given detention and then sent to the nurse for screening.

 

 Grading Scale

 

Assignments      65%     Assignments will be Posted in Google Classroom.

 

Tests                35%      Tests will be announced
    

 

 

Notes: Take notes. Have paper,pencil,and calculator ready to do work.

 

 

Tutoring

 

Tutoring is available upon your request  Monday – Thursday before and after school.
