In this course students will study the history of ceramics, contemporary ceramic art, as well as ceramic art from other cultures. During the 1st marking period of the course students will work on projects designed to heighten their sculptural skills focusing on realism, dinnerware sets, and abstract ideas. This course will allow for students to study the art form on a higher level and begin to develop their own style through a series of independent study projects. They will study and record in their planner/sketchbook project ideas as well as advanced glazing techniques. They will also begin to incorporate conceptual ideas into their functional and sculptural works.
